Treatment

Am I suitable for full-arch dental implants?

What a full-arch implant assessment considers: remaining teeth, bone loss, gum health, medical history, CBCT and suitability for fixed temporary teeth.

Suitability needs an individual examination

You may be suitable for full-arch dental implants when an entire row of teeth is missing or there are extensive problems with the remaining teeth. This is a major treatment decision. An online photograph or a low package price cannot determine whether it is appropriate.

The clinical team considers alternatives, including preserving teeth that can be maintained. Your goals, ability to clean the restoration and access to follow-up are part of planning, alongside the surgical assessment.

What to tell the clinical team

Provide the full medical and dental history requested by your clinician. Conditions affecting healing, medicines, smoking, prior gum disease and previous implant treatment may change the assessment. Do not stop medicines yourself to prepare for treatment.

  • Your current dental problems and previous treatments.
  • Medical conditions and all prescribed or non-prescribed medicines.
  • Smoking or nicotine use and any relevant allergies.
  • Existing imaging and its date.
  • Your expectations about appearance, eating and treatment timing.

Why an X-ray or CBCT may be needed

A panoramic X-ray can help begin a discussion. A CBCT provides three-dimensional imaging that may be needed to assess bone and nearby anatomy for implant planning. The clinical team decides what is justified and whether existing imaging is sufficient.

The online proposal remains preliminary until the necessary examination and imaging are completed. Ask what the scan is intended to answer and how a finding could change implant positions, timing or the treatment approach.

Bone loss does not have one standard answer

Its location and extent matter. A patient with limited bone may require a different design, additional treatment or an alternative restoration. Neither a four-implant label nor a promise of no grafting can replace assessment.

Ask whether any additional procedures are included in the written scope, and what alternatives exist if the initially proposed treatment is unsuitable.

Fixed temporary teeth are a separate decision

Suitability for implants and suitability for immediately loading them are related but different decisions. The surgeon considers implant stability and the complete restorative plan before providing fixed temporary teeth.

Before travelling, ask what will happen if immediate loading is not appropriate. You should understand the alternative temporary arrangement, extra appointments and any effect on your plans.

Start with records, then agree the next step

Contact Bence with your questions and existing imaging. The enquiry form accepts an optional JPG, PNG, WebP or PDF up to 4 MB. Ask for a separate transfer route for large CBCT/DICOM files. The clinical team can then explain the next assessment step.
